Scarlet Sages

“The 50th Plus Club”

The Scarlet Sages are all Haverford College alumni who have celebrated their 50th Reunion, and no condition or physical, financial, or intellectual capacity shall deny them elevation to such honorable standing.

The group was started by Mather Lippincott '43. Scarlet Sages exist to enjoy the good life begun at Haverford, and shall join with classmates and Sages from neighboring institutions to further this pursuit of happiness.

The affairs and activities of the Scarlet Sages shall be managed by a Planning Committee made up of “Venerable Sages” with the intent to have representative members from each class from the 50th Reunion and on. The Planning Committee shall meet several times a year and be chaired by a “Supreme Sage” elected by the Committee for a term not to exceed more than three years.

During Alumni Weekend each year, the College will hold a Saturday Scarlet Sages Luncheon for all Scarlet Sages. To nominate a classmate or oneself to the Committee, please contact Margaret Gindhart, Alumni Relations Office, 610-896-1329 or Email: .

The BMC Golden Sages will have a lecture/luncheon at Wyndham with their new president, Kim Cassidy, as speaker.

Saturday, October 25 - Sages Day On Campus
The Scarlet Sages will have an on-campus program beginning at 11:00 am with a talk from President Weiss followed by an alumni panel discussion. There will be special seating for our Sages at the all-College luncheon, to be followed by a special program with student leaders. There will be no charge for this event, but registration is required.
